Overview

PagerDuty is a tool for alerting, on-call scheduling, managing escalation policies and incident tracking created to help increase uptime of apps, servers, websites and databases.

CloudMonix integrates with PagerDuty by raising incidents for PagerDuty services. Just like with other types of notifications, users can control what notifications are sent to the specific PagerDuty service based on the resource, resource group, alert severity, etc.

Three general steps to integrate CloudMonix with PagerDuty

  1. Set up CloudMonix integration for the selected service in PagerDuty

  2. Set up the PagerDuty integration definition in CloudMonix

  3. Tell CloudMonix what notifications should be sent to PagerDuty

Detailed steps to integrate CloudMonix with PagerDuty

  • Log in to the PagerDuty website.

  • In the Services list (Configuration > Services) select the Service to integrate. Alternatively, select CloudMonix from Integrations dropdown when creating a new Service.

  • Click the service name to open Service configuration screen.

  • In the Integrations tab click New Integration button.

  • Then select CloudMonix from the dropdown and click the Add Integration button.

  • In CloudMonix open the PagerDuty integration dialog (Account Settings > Integrations > PagerDuty). Enter the Service Name as it appears in PagerDuty.

  • Enter the Integration Key from PagerDuty as the Service Key in PagerDuty credentials configuration screen.

  • Press the Test button in CloudMonix PagerDuty integration dialog, to verify that integration is setup correctly. You should see a new incident triggered in PagerDuty.

  • In the Notifications screen (Account Settings > Notifications) create a new rule for sending notifications from CloudMonix to PagerDuty. Decide what information will be posted to PagerDuty by adjusting the Minimum Severity value and optionally disabling sending certain types of notifications in the Do not Send section. By default CloudMonix will automatically resolve PagerDuty cases when alert is off, to prevent that behaviour tick the DoNotSendAlertOff checkboxLearn more about Notification Management here.
